SowingSow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost in pots or trays, lightly pressing the seeds into the surface. Place in a propagator or loosely covered bag at around 20 °C and allow 2–4 weeks for germination. Once germinated, remove the cover and keep in cooler conditions.
Growing On
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Planting Out
Plant out in full sun in well-drained soil. Also suitable for containers, raised beds, or rockeries.
Aftercare / Advice
Remove faded flowers throughout summer to prolong blooming and any dead foliage in spring. Add grit to improve drainage where necessary. Late summer sowings will flower earlier and more profusely the following year.
