Unwins Alpine Saxifraga Purple Robe Seeds produce masses of rich spring flowers in bright pink with white and yellow centres. Ideal for rockeries, this alpine is brilliant for spreading and has evergreen foliage to add interest outside of the flowering season.
This hardy perennial can also be planted in pots and containers and is good for adding contract to mixed plantings.
Sow: March to June / August to September

Sowing
Sow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost in pots or trays, lightly pressing the seeds into the surface. Place in a propagator or loosely covered bag at around 20 °C in shade and allow 2–4 weeks for germination. After germination, remove the cover and move seedlings to cooler, brighter conditions. If germination is poor after a few weeks, keep the seeds cold (around 4 °C) for 4 weeks, then return them to warmth.
Growing On
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Planting Out
Plant out in full sun or part shade, in well-drained soil. Also suitable for containers, raised beds, or rockeries.
Aftercare / Advice
Remove faded flowers during summer to prolong blooming. Add grit to improve drainage where necessary. Late summer sowings will flower earlier and more profusely the following year.
