Sow: March to May
Flowering: June to October
Sowing Indoors
Sow in pots or module trays of pre-watered compost, covering lightly with a little more compost. Keep in a light position at around 20 °C. Germination and early growth are usually quick.
Growing On / Planting Out
When seedlings are large enough to handle, pot on into individual pots and protect from frost. Plant out once all danger of frost has passed, spacing plants about 40 cm apart in a sunny border.
Sowing Outdoors
Sow directly into prepared soil when the risk of frost has passed. Break the soil into a fine tilth and keep weed-free. Sow thinly, 5 mm deep, and thin seedlings to 40 cm apart once large enough to handle.
Aftercare / Advice
Pinch out growing tips to encourage bushier growth. Keep well watered, particularly in warm, dry weather, and feed regularly once flowering begins. Staking may be required in exposed locations.
