Unwins Salad Herb Burnet has a fresh cucumber flavour. A useful alternative to mint and a tasty addition to salads. They are also great in soup, cooling summer drinks and with borage.

This is an easy to grow perennial herb. Burnet has the bonus of magenta flowers in summer.

Sow: March to May
Harvest: June to September

Sowing
Sow in well-prepared, pre-watered soil in full sun or light shade, 1 cm apart, lightly covering with a little more soil. Keep moist.

Thinning
When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to 25 cm apart.

Aftercare
Water plants generously in dry weather.

Advice
Sow a little and often to ensure a continuous supply. Pick often and while leaves are small; older leaves have a more bitter taste.
