Cleaning watering cans is important to remove dirt, mineral deposits, and any residue that may accumulate over time.
Ensure the watering can is empty of water and remove any plants or soil that may be inside. Use a hose or bucket of water to rinse the interior and exterior of the watering can thoroughly. This helps remove loose dirt and debris. Prepare a solution of warm water and mild dish soap in a bucket. Dip a soft sponge or cloth into the soapy water and gently scrub the inside and outside of the watering can. Pay attention to areas with stubborn stains or buildup. Once you've scrubbed the watering can, rinse it thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue. Ensure all soap is washed away to prevent streaking or residue buildup.
If your watering can has mineral deposits or lime scale buildup, you can use a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar to dissolve them. Soak a cloth or sponge in the vinegar solution and apply it to the affected areas. Let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing gently with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse the watering can thoroughly after removing the deposits.
After cleaning and rinsing, allow the watering can to air dry completely before storing it. Make sure there is no water trapped in crevices or seams, as this can lead to rusting over time.
