The spade will offer you an easy way to divide plants due to its sharper and narrower blade compared with a traditional digging spade. Perennial plants often have deeper roots compared to annuals, therefore using a perennial spade is ideal because it has a longer blade allowing for deeper planting depths to accommodate the roots.
