SowingSow on the surface of pre-watered seed compost in pots or trays, lightly pressing the seeds into the surface. Place in a propagator or loosely covered bag at around 20 °C in shade and allow 2–4 weeks for germination. After germination, remove the cover and move seedlings to cooler, brighter conditions.
Growing On
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Grow on in a sheltered spot outdoors, such as a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.
Planting Out
Plant out in full sun in well-drained soil and water in well.
Aftercare / Advice
Cut back after flowering, once the foliage is dying back. Will benefit from division of established clumps every 2–3 years. Dislikes wet conditions in winter, so ensure soil is well-drained.
