Sow Indoors / Sow Outdoors: Apr to Jul
Flowering: Apr to Jul
Sowing Indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth 10–15°C, and keep moist.
Growing On
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost.
Hardening Off / Planting Out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out during autumn. Young plants will then become established before the onset of winter. Allow 15cm between plants.
Sowing Outdoors
Seed can also be sown outdoors in short, shallow, pre-watered rows. Lightly cover with a little soil and keep moist until seedlings emerge. Thin them out to 15cm apart when large enough to handle to allow young plants to develop.
AftercareMix seeds with fine sand to aid sowing both indoors and outdoors. Arrange successive sowings to have plants throughout the season.
